Overview

The new Meta platform remains highly secure, and as such all users require two-factor authentication when logging in.

Two-factor authentication (2FA) is crucial for enhancing security by requiring a second form of verification in addition to your password, significantly reducing the risk of unauthorized access. This second form of verification will utilise your mobile device.

Previously, the only authenticator Meta could work with was DUO, but you are now able to use any authenticator application you choose.

Whilst you can continue to use DUO, please note, push notifications are no longer supported, only passcode.

Authentication Application

When you access Meta for the first time, or when you have received the 'Account Set Up' email, you will be prompted to enrol in 2FA using an application of your choice.

You may use an existing mobile authenticator application on your mobile device, or install one of the following (all available on the Apple/Google app store):

  • Microsoft Authenticator
  • FreeOTP
  • Google Authenticator

Open the application, select Add New Account option and scan the displayed QR Code.

Enters the one-time code provided by the application and click Submit to finish the setup.

User can provide a Device Name to help manage their OTP devices.

Once completed, selecting Submit will direct the User to the Meta Home Page.

Future Steps

Scanning of the QR Code, and adding the account to your authentication method will only need to be done once.

Going forward, each time you access Meta, you will need to open the Authentication application, locate the associated account, and enter in the 6 digit passcode.
